Back in January, I had the honor of photographing this young family before a deployment.  I had wanted, oh so wanted, to be there to document his reunion with his family.  Sadly, it was not meant to be.  My family was in the midst of car problems, surgery recoveries, the hottest summer in Austin’s history, fires, you name it.  Everything was against me being there and I was so frustrated.  I didn’t want them to go without updated portraits, though, so we met at a park one morning.

Thank you for what you did for our Nation.  Thank you for serving.  Welcome home.

I was honored to photograph this loving family earlier this spring (when things were still green!) and capture some very special smiles. Brenda, I remember this session often and am so honored you allowed me to become a part of your family’s history! Thank you so much for the honor.

Wait.  Did I just reveal a little nerdiness?  Yeah.  I guess I did.  Forgive me?

Maybe if I go back through the sessions and post them, y’all will forget I said things like… DNS addresses and propagate… For full disclosure, I’ll file all these fall ’09 sessions in the category “revisited” just so there’s no confusion that, well, they’re o-l-d.  They’ve all been re-edited as my editing style has changed (for the better!) and some may feature images that I once passed over, but they were all photographed in 2009.

I hope that they inspire you to start thinking about YOUR fall 2010 photos, and you know, call me to take them.  No, really.  I mean it!  I’d rather you call me now (512-553-5653) while my schedule is still wide open than to wait until the second week in November when I won’t be able to help you until, gasp!, next year.

I’m proofing like a madwoman today, taking advantage of the last few days of having my husband around.  Some new favorites from their session.

This little man had a soccer game the next day.  I bet he’ll be an amazing soccer player someday – check out how fast he was going!  Dad even got into it.  I love how I caught them in precisely the same part of their stride.  Like father, like son.

Kerry, thank you so much for thinking of me when it came time for the bluebonnets to bloom!  I loved seeing you guys again after all these years.  Welcome back to Texas and I hope you enjoy those lovely prints!

So for the time being, enjoy some quick pictures I caught of my two oldest boys this afternoon with a new lens.  I think I can say that I’m pleased with it.  I had a big debate on whether to get an off-brand zoom or a canon brand prime.  I’m glad I took my brother’s advice and stuck with the primes and the name brands.

Yes, I know the baby is missing but he was sleeping, so I’ll just have to try to get him later.  Never wake a sleeping baby, afterall.  I love those boys more than I even have words to describe.  Enjoy!
